We welcome you to our church, not just a beautiful building of stone but a living Church made up of Christian people, sharing a faith in a loving and living God.

St Marys from the South West
Our Church aims to grow closer to God to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and to express God's love in action - picture from the Burne Jones West Window

St Mary’s Speldhurst has a lively congregation, at whose centre is the life and teaching of Jesus Christ.

All ages are welcome at each service, but for part of the 10 a.m. Parish Communion and Service of the Word services the Sunday Club is available for those of school age. A Crêche is available at all 10 a.m. services.

Our aim is to be a Family, open to all, in which everyone can learn to love Jesus and serve him in the power of the Holy Spirit. We meet together to worship God; to respond to his word and to listen to his will. We believe in the power of prayer, and are always ready to pray with you or for you for any problem that you may be going through.

St Mary’s is part of the United Parish of Speldhurst with St Martin's Church, Ashurst and St John's Church, Groombridge.

There has been a church on the site since Saxon times. The current church built in 1879 has fine windows by William Morris and Burne Jones. To see some pictures of the church click here

Although a village Church we are also very aware of our responsibilities not only to those in the village, but further away. Our link church in London is Christ Church, North Brixton, and there is a regular flow of information and visits. We also support a Church Mission Society link couple in Nepal - Paul and Jean Dobbing. Click here for more information.
