Adults’ Groups & Communities

Homegroups

Nearly 100 people at St Mary’s enjoy friendship and encouragement in their faith in our homegroups. Homegroups are at the centre of our church life.

New members are warmly welcome, whether you are male, female, older, younger, and wherever you are on your journey of faith.

There are daytime and evening groups, and we can help you find one that feels like home.

Each has its own flavour; in some the members have a lot in common, some are diverse. All enjoy a mixture of prayer time, chat, Bible study and social events.

Email John Perkins to chat about joining a group or to find out more. Or call him on 01892 863239.

Social

St Mary’s people are involved in lots of local social groups and activities, and you are warmly invited to join them. It’s a great, low-pressure way of getting to know people:

  • Men on Wednesday
  • Speldhurst runners
  • Walking group
  • Badminton
  • Golf group
  • Men’s walking weekend

Prayer & Pastoral

We have informal prayer groups throughout the week that you are very welcome to join.

If you are moved to help pastorally, we also have an active carers group that provides compassion and support by phone to anyone in need, which has been especially important during COVID times.

And an active prayer group that prays individually or as a chain for others.

Music

St Mary’s has a joyous music group, with relaxed regular rehearsals for our Sunday services – more members are always welcome.

We also have a wonderful community choir programme, which anyone can join in the build-up to Christmas. (Listen to our 2021 highlights.)

Our style is vibrant whether we are singing contemporary songs or traditional hymns; our aim is to support everyone in their personal worship

"The community choir is perfect if you like to occasionally sing with others and get to know people. Becky is such an encouraging leader and rehearsals are great fun."
