Football

Speldhurst Rangers Football Club was founded in the late 1800's which makes it one of the oldest football clubs in the country.  Most success was had in the 1950's & 1960's where several trophies were won and the finals were hosted at the Speldhurst Recreation Ground. The Speldhurst Recreation Ground was considered one of the best football pitches in the local area.  The current players have the up-most respect for the clubs history, keeping the Home team colours and trying to find old pictures of the previous teams.

It's really important to us to get local people involved with the Club, whether through playing or supporting.  Our longest serving member is Richard Oddy - the 2015/ 2016 season was his 19th! - he's a true legend and the club owes a lot to his dedication and drive to keep the club alive. The longest supporter of the club 'award' goes to Bernard Mills.  Bernard played for the club in his youth and as he lives on St.Mary's Lane, it's not too far for him to venture to show his continuing support.

The 2015/16 season saw 9 new players signed, 3 of whom have grown up in Speldhurst!  We have a mixture of youth and experience which should see us at the higher end of Division 3 (hopefully!).  Despite Sunday League Football having been given a bad name due to foul language and poor tackling, we do our up-most to be respectful to the opposition and to each other.  We are there simply to have fun!
