It is coming to that time of year when we throw open our windows and doors and begin to emerge from our winter hibernation.

It is also that time of year when the patter or clomp of tiny (and not so tiny) feet take to the streets surrounding our village, for the annual Speldhurst School Mini-Marathon.

This year the event takes place on Friday April 5th, at 9.00am.

Maps will be posted around the village the week before showing the exact route, however to give villagers a general indication of the area it will cover; the race will begin from the school gates and weave its way through Ferbies, Northfields, up to the village hall and back, then through the grounds of St Mary’s Church finishing back at the entrance gates of the school.

All the school children take part, with the KS1 youngsters following a slightly shorter (but no less demanding) route.  It would be a wonderful for them to see as many villagers out cheering on their endeavours and if you locate yourselves in any one of the 4 key route areas you are bound not to miss any action.

So please mark this date in your calendars and start waving those flags to cheer on the children....we promise you won’t be disappointed.
